slip cast vessels

Theses were ceramic vessels that I made taking inspiration from nature and carniverous hanging plants to create the form. After drawings I then created this form using the plaster lathe to carve away the excess plaster while the lathe was turning until I achieved the shape I desired. Using this to make a two piece plaster mould I slip cast the vessels first in earthenware then terracotta slip, leaving some biscuit fired and others glazed and fired again. These vessels or plant holders were made the perfect size to fit the smaller plant pots.

The processes and technics that I used to create these vessels.
